About the workshop
Impression of the workshop week Crossing Minerva. Project ‘Create a beautiful Artist Book in 5 days’ given by Renate Boere.
Art Academy Minerva (Groningen) invited Renate Boere to provide the 5-day workshop Artist Books during Crossing Minerva, the project week. Under supervision, first-year students of Visual Arts worked on the workshop in the week of 8 to 12 February 2016, in which they created an artist book with this year’s theme: Uprooted.
About the Design
The week started with a presentation by Renate Boere about the artist books she designed for various artists. After that, the students got to work on the theme uprooted. In concrete terms, the students were given the assignment on the first day to go to a place in Groningen where they had never been before. With this place as a starting point for a visual research, they made 100 photos, drawings and interviews. On day two, the printed photos were processed into at least 25 collages. The goal at the end of the week was to produce a print run of 15 bound books with the Riso Printer and to sell these on the last day during the final exhibition.
