About the exhibition

On June 9, we will go to the polls. A political ‘home’ no longer seems to exist in this time of contradictions and one-liners. Citizens are influenced by various media, political campaigns and opinion pollsters. The voting guides seem to be an objective instrument to offer the floating voter certainty. But to what extent is objective information possible? And to what extent do we allow ourselves to be guided by objective criteria?

More than 100 graphic design students from the Willem de Kooning Academy (WdKA) Hogeschool Rotterdam have conducted research into new forms of providing information about politics. They have developed voting guides that allow you to choose by means of illustrations instead of text, or by means of the external characteristics of party leaders, and you can shop online for your favorite statements. The use of color by political parties, voting behavior and political preference have also been investigated. 30 projects were shown in the CBK Dordrecht. The projects can be seen from 28 to 1 May in gallery BLAAK10 at the Witte de With in Rotterdam.
