About the book

At the time of writing, the counter of the series of journal drawings stands at 489 pieces. Jacobs has been making these journal drawings since 2003 and the end of this series is not foreseen for the time being. Journal drawings should not be thought of as news or a newspaper, but more as a diary. A visual diary, of ‘the actuality of my field of vision’, as Jacobs puts it.

About the Design

Henri Jacobs makes journal drawings every day already for a long period of time. Each drawing is a follow up/family of the next work. That’s why we chose the name ‘Mutter, Zoon, Daughter Petite Fille’. The publication shows the work as much as possible in overview. Because of this you see the development in his work originated in the best way.

“Journal drawings should not be thought of as news or a newspaper, but more as a diary.”

Colophon

This publication accompanies the Henri Jacobs exhibition, which can be seen at Heden from May 1 to June 18, 2011.

Heden’s mission is to provide access to contemporary visual art. Exhibitions, art rental, art education and (inter)national projects are among Heden’s core tasks.
