About the book

Christie van der Haak is an artist with an exceptionally large oeuvre. She mainly makes very colorful patterns that then find their way to fabrics and other applications. After winning the Heden Oevreprijs in 2012, she exhibited in the gallery of Heden. Studio Renate Boere designed a book for this exhibition.

About the Design

This book is a showcase of the many patterns that Christie van der Haak has made. In addition to the extensive patterns, this book also contains the illustrations that each pattern starts with. She tests her patterns by placing two mirrors next to the illustrations she has made. This creates a symmetrical, kaleidoscopic structure. The book includes two mirrors that you can use to do this yourself. You can also color the patterns yourself. The die in the cover is the chair that Ed Annink had upholstered by Christie van der Haak. With this die, you can try out all the patterns in the book, as it were applied.

“This book is a showcase of the many patterns that Christie van der Haak has made.”

“The book invites readers to color the patterns themselves.”
