About the awards

We are proud to announce that we have won GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE at the International Design Awards for Beyond Design, Designing Lightness and Aan ‘t Groothoofd! 2022 could not have started more spectacularly!

The International Design Awards (IDA) exists to recognize, celebrate and promote legendary design visionaries and to uncover emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic and Fashion Design. IDA draws attention to the iconoclasm of design worldwide: conceptualizing and producing great work.

We would like to congratulate and especially thank everyone we worked with on these projects!

About the Design

For all projects, we ask ourselves why the project ‘deserves’ to be published in order to establish real value for it. For example, the ambition for Designing Lightness was very high. Because the project wants to appeal to a large group of (young) designers and engineers, we focused on telling a strong and attractive visual story. We believe that an attractive design that connects with the user group can contribute to an inspiring reading experience that can initiate a positive change in behavior.

Our self-initiated project Beyond Design follows the same principles and shows how to create, present and evaluate social design solutions in a fast and fun way. Where the book provides insights into contemporary (often hybrid) design practice, the game goes deeper into exploring your own ideas and coming up with new possibilities to actually implement them. Both the book and the game generate educational value, making Beyond Design an effective tool for anyone with a small or big idea.

The small publication Aan ‘t Groothoofd, on the other hand, conceptually captures the essence of the impressive mural that artist Robert Zandvliet made for the Dordrechts Museum. It is an artistic object in the form of a printed publication. In contrast to the mural, the publication is a compact bound booklet in which the reader experiences the passing of time. The design unfolds as a visual diary in which the artist’s working methods and references are told.
