Through the design of ‘A Painter’s Play’, Studio Renate Boere reflects the theatrical essence of Andrea Freckmann’s paintings. Drawing inspiration from the original scripts of the Commedia dell’ Arte, the design emphasizes balance, mirroring the artist’s own pursuits and the fundamental principles of this form of theatre.
The book itself acts as a stage, presenting multiple perspectives on Freckmann’s paintings. Contributors including a theater maker, poet, art historian, and the artist herself are strategically placed within the golden ratio (the human measure), where the text performs as the play and the images serve as backstage props. The cover design further sets the stage for this artistic journey, encapsulating the playful and exploratory spirit that defines Freckmann’s art.
