About the Design
The publication ’80 cm away from you’ by Dries Verhoeven (theatre maker and scenographer) was published to support his (international) performances. The cover design is the result of a study into the readability of text at a distance of 80 centimetres. The title was written by the author and becomes readable when the viewer is 80 centimetres from the book. The cover and the text in the interior are printed in metallic colours, derived from the pencil with which the title was written.
The reading ribbons (80 cm long) support the idea of the physical distance of 80 cm. A reference to the performance ‘You are here’.
